The Bhutan monk

Une photo prise un jour important pour les Américains et dans un lieu magique et peu connu encore, le Bhoutan. Une photo prise après plusieurs heures de quête et d’efforts. Et, pourtant, on ne ressent que la grâce et la sérénité. Et l’immensité de la nature.

« Nov 5th, 2008. The day after our presidential election in the U.S. and I’m as far away as possible from the elation, relief and celebrations going on back home. I’m in the Buddhist Kingdom of Bhutan on the second day of a three-day trek to a sacred lake at 4,000 meters, traveling with my Bhutanese friend, three Buddhist monks and a Scottish man who turned sixty years old that day. I caught one of the monks after five hours of hiking, at the edge of the sacred lake, after he did prostrations towards the lake and the extreme fog quickly cleared just enough to see the meeting line of where the lake and rocks met. It’s snowing and slushy. We dropped paper money into the lake and said a prayer. »
